Muungano Microfinance Bank PLC is licensed and regulated by the Central Bank of Kenya subject to the provisions of the Microfinance Act and Regulations.
The National License; granted in October 2024 authorizes Muungano Microfinance Bank to conduct banking business in Kenya in response to Vision 2030 on Financial Inclusion, MDG, and SDG Agenda No. 1 on poverty alleviation and as a contributor to one of the Key attributes under the Big 4 Agenda; Food Security.
Muungano Microfinance Bank is the 14th overall and the first Microfinance Bank to be headquartered in a rural setting, in Kangari township, Kigumo Sub-county of Murang'a County.
The Bank's main objective is to facilitate improvement of the agri-business sector focusing mainly on Dairy and Tea Value chains. The Bank contributes immensely towards capacity building through various partnerships to ensure farmers do their best to boost productivity and maximize related income.
Besides the agri-business sector, the Bank supports retail business, and personal/consumer loans among others, and promotes savings and investment.
